Gone Fishing | Camping Snack Kids Will Love
This “gone fishing” camping snack for kids was an absolute hit with all of our kids this summer! It was so simple and filled lots of little bellies. If you are looking for a simple, fun snack for camping trips or summer play this snack is for you!

My aunt is so creative and introduced this snack to all of our kids last summer. To say our kids loved it would be an understatement!
The best part was after they were done eating we just threw them in the lake to wash off the peanut butter fun that happened during the snack. We will for sure be bringing this on our next camping trip because it was so fun!
This snack is so simple, all you need are pretzel rods and peanut butter. All the other toppings can be whatever you have in your pantry.
You could use trail mix, pumpkin seeds, graham cracker bits, chocolate chips, raisins, honestly any snacks that are family favorites are a great choice. This is such a fun way to get creative with your child and enjoy the great outdoors together. It even appeals to those that are picky eaters!
This fishing camping snack for kids is a great idea after a long day of hiking or playing outside. Along with hot dogs & s’mores this snack goes on our list of best camping foods for kids.
How To Make Your Gone Fishing Camping Snack
You will need:
- Pretzel rods (fishing poles)
- Creamy peanut butter
- Snack items- our favorite things to use are goldfish, gummy worms, gummy bears & jelly beans -I wouldn’t say ours was a healthy snack, but you could definitely pick other items I listed above to make it less sugary!
- Plates- you can make them red and pretend they are bobber plates 🙂
Put out each item, have the kids dunk their pretzel rods into the peanut butter and then “go fishing” in one of the snack containers and have fun!
We all shared the peanut butter jar to dunk but if you are doing this in a classroom or don’t want to share germs with everyone I would recommend giving each child peanut butter in a small cup for them to dunk their pretzel into.
You may have to teach your child to dunk the pretzel into the peanut butter in order for the snack items to stick, but don’t worry, even little kids will catch on quickly!
I hope your happy campers enjoy this snack as much as my little ones do!
