These snowflake suncatchers are an easy winter craft for kids and fun way to add some color to dreary winter days! It is a great holiday craft for preschoolers as well as older kids. It would be an awesome craft activity for a classroom holiday party, snow day activity or just a way to pass some time at home with your little one.
This project is great for kids of all ages, although younger kids will need help cutting out the snowflake shape. The cutting and placing of tissue paper is a great way to build fine motor skills with preschoolers.

Materials List
- White printer paper
- Blue construction paper
- Free printable snowflake template (download form is towards the bottom of this post)
- Tissue paper in assorted colors (cut into small 1 inch squares)
- Clear contact paper
- Scissors or paper cutter

โHow to Make Your Snowflake Suncatcher
Print the snowflake template on white paper and cut out
Trace the snowflake onto a piece of blue construction paper


Use scissors or exacto paper cutter out the inside of the snowflake shape
Add a piece of contact paper onto the construction paper
With the sticky side of the contact paper up add precut small squares of tissue paper to the contact paper


Add another piece of contact paper on the back of the snowflake to secure the tissue paper squares
Cut out the outline of the snowflake and hang in a window!


Tips When Making Your Snowflake Suncatcher
- If making this with younger children precut the snowflake outline and add contact paper before beginning
- Let older kids design more detailed color patterns, providing a variety of tissue paper colors
- Use dark construction paper to have your snowflake pop or use light colored paper to have a snowflake with no outline!
