We had so much fun making our heart keychains and bleeding tissue paper hearts and I knew that our next Valentine’s Day craft needed to be a suncatcher!

These are so fun to make and a great way to work on fine motor skills. My toddler loved putting on the tissue paper squares and was so proud of her bow once it was finished!

This would be a great craft for a Valentine’s Day classroom party or a quiet time activity. Once the contact paper is on the bow shape the child can complete all of the designing independently!

How to Make a Tissue Paper Bow Suncatcher

First print out the bow template

Cut it out and trace the outline of the bow on a piece of pink or red construction paper

Cut out the inside of the bow shape- I found it easiest to use an exacto knife for this part

Add a piece of contact paper to the construction paper, stick the contact paper to the side of the construction paper that does not have pencil marks from outlining the bow shape

Either precut cut tissue paper squares or have your child cut squares of tissue paper to add to the bow, you can also tear the tissue paper if you prefer

Arrange the tissue paper squares on the sticky side of the contact paper in whatever design you would like.  We used different shades of pink with pops of white for our bows!

If desired you can add another piece of contact paper on the back of the bow to secure the tissue paper squares. We always skip this part, but I would recommend adding the second piece of contact paper if you would like to keep these for future years.

Hang on a sunny window and enjoy your bow sun catchers!
