- It is a sweet DIY Christmas decoration you can frame and take out year after year
Materials Needed
- Empty toilet paper rolls or cardboard tubes
- Green paint
- White paper (this can be white cardstock paper or printer paper)
- Q-Tips
- Variety of paint colors for the Christmas lights and star on top
- Paper plate
How To Make Your Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Tree Painting
- โPut green paint on a paper plate and take your toilet paper roll and dip the end into the green paint
- Stamp the roll onto your paper, repeating until you form the shape of a Christmas tree
- Use brown paint or small rectangle of brown construction paper to create the tree trunk
- Dip q-tips into different colors of paint to make lights and ornaments
- Add a yellow star at the top of the tree

Tips For Success
For younger kids draw out the tree shape with a pencil so they know where to stamp their toilet paper roll
Use thicker acrylic paint so your stamped lines keep their shape
If you don’t have q-tips or they are too small for your little one’s hands you could clip cotton balls at the end of a clothespin like we did in this toddler painting craft
For toddlers or younger children pre-dip the cardboard roll or guide their hand for the first few stamps to help teach them how to do it
Variations For Older Children
- Make a whole forest of toilet paper roll Christmas trees using different sizes of cardboard tubes, or squeeze the tubes together to give the tree a more oval shape like boughs on trees
- Add ornaments by using gems or stickers or add a little flare by adding glitter to your tree
- Use the finished artwork to decorate for Christmas or use it for a sweet DIY Christmas card
