Fall Leaf DIY Window Clings
As the trees begin to show signs of fall I was looking for a fun fall leaf craft to do with my preschooler. These fall leaf DIY window clings are so fun to create and play with, over and over and over!

Fall is hands down my favorite season. I love being outside with the crisp air and watching the once green leaves turn to red, yellow and orange. I went on a fall leaf hunt with my preschooler (one of our favorite fall activities) and when we returned home with a bowl full of leaves we were excited to create some special crafts with them. We loved making these fall leaf bookmarks and leaf butterflies together. However, this fall leaf window cling craft was so simple and provided such a pretty decoration for our sunny window by our kitchen.
This fall craft is a great way to work on simple fine motor skills with my little one. Between cutting out the leaf shapes, squirting the water onto our window and manipulating the leaves to get them into the perfect design there are so many great opportunities to work on those little motor movements!
My favorite thing about this craft is that we can play with them all fall. All you need to do is apply water to the window and you can create brand new leaf scenes over and over. It is fun to let each child have their own window clings with the leaves they found so they can create their own fall masterpiece.
Materials For Your Fall Leaf DIY Window Clings
- Leaves – We used real leaves we found on our leaf hunt but you could also use these artificial leaves
- Laminator (This is my favorite laminator)
- Laminator sheet
- Scissors
- Squirt water bottle
How To Make Your DIY Window Clings
Pick out your favorite leaves from your fall leaf hunt- it is easiest to use fresh leaves so they don’t curl too much
Lay the leaves in the laminating sheet, making sure they lay flat when you put the top of the sheet down onto the leaves
Put the laminating sheet with the leaves in it through the laminator
Cut out the leaves, leaving a little space between the leaf and the sheet to make sure that the lamination holds
Spray water onto your window (it doesn’t need to be much)
Put your leaves up on your window to create a fun fall decoration!
Variation
These leaves stay up pretty well for about 24 hours, some stay on even longer. If you wanted to have the leaves up longer you could use tape on the back of them. We prefer to just re decorate with them when they fall off. 🙂
