Turkey Handprint Poem | Free Printable Template
Looking for a fun project to make as a gift for Thanksgiving? This adorable turkey handprint poem is a simple Thanksgiving activity and a great way to have some Thanksgiving fun.
I love Thanksgiving crafts and this handprint turkey craft is one of our favorites. It is such a fun keepsake and is a perfect way to capture your child’s tiny hand print. When my kids come home with a handprint project I always save it, it’s like freezing their childhood in time.
I did this craft with my preschooler and 2nd grader, both of their hands fit perfectly into this template. It was a fun craft for both of my boys to do and now they get to choose who they want to give this great keepsake to. I would say that this craft is best suited for young kids in preschool through early elementary.
This handprint craft would make a perfect gift for parents, teachers, grandparents or loved ones. The little poem included on the printable template is so sweet and a great way for kids to show appreciation for those who love them. The poem is at the top of the free printable and there is blank space below the poem for the child to create their sweet handprint artwork.

How To Create Your Turkey Handprint
Print off the free turkey handprint poem linked below
Take your green, red, orange & yellow paint and create the turkey’s feathers by painting each finger (except for the thumb) one of these colors
Take your brown paint and paint your child’s thumb and palm brown
Before having the child place their hand on the paper make sure the fingers with the colored paint isn’t too dry, add more paint if needed to make sure they have wet paint on them
Place the child’s hand, palm down, on the open space of the template and push the palm and all fingers down onto the paper
Have the child lift their hand straight off of the paper
Let the paint dry and then draw the orange beak, black feet and red gobbler
Add the googly eye to finish off the craft
Variations to This Fun Thanksgiving Craft
You could create a footprint turkey instead, Katie at A Little Pinch of Perfect has a great tutorial on how to make a footprint turkey
If you want to avoid the paint you could instead use an ink pad to create the turkey handprint
For a low mess craft you could trace the child’s hand and then have them color in the turkey’s feathers and body
