I love the fall season and especially fall crafts and treats.  When apple season rolls around we always try to use some fallen apples in our neighborhoods unofficial apple orchard to do some apple stamping and apple picking.

This fun apple craft is an easy way to add to the fall fun and would make a great addition to an apple theme unit in school.  You could use it as a letter of the week craft or as a starting point for learning about the life cycle of an apple.

It is a great project for young children and my 3 year old loved creating her multi colored apples.  It was also my first time using bleeding tissue paper and it was such a fun way to create art and blend colors.  This is one of our more simple craft projects and I know you will enjoy it!

Materials

  • Bleeding tissue paper – I tried using normal tissue paper at first, but it did not work at all. You really do need bleeding tissue paper.
  • Cardstock  – You will need a thick cardstock or watercolor paper since we will be adding water to it, normal printer paper will tear.

  • Paint Brush

Use your water and paintbrush to get the apple damp and begin adding your tissue paper squares.  I let my daughter rip our tissue paper and it was a great way to work on fine motor skills and added another fun element to the craft.

Once your apple is covered with tissue paper use your paintbrush to make sure all the pieces are damp and stuck on the paper.

Leave it to sit for 10-15 minutes.
