Use popsicle sticks or twigs to create ice paint pops for a fun summer activity for kids! This is such a fun way to paint with ice cubes and is an easy craft that uses simple household supplies!

We had a lot of fun with this cute ice painting activity! My kids thought it was so funny they were painting with ice cubes and I loved that something so simple kept them entertained for a long time.
We didn’t have popsicle sticks, so we opted for some small sticks we found in the yard and they worked well! I loved doing this on a hot summer day so the ice could melt on the paper and we could take everything outside. It would also work as an indoor craft as well if it’s a rainy day or just too hot to be outside.

It’s always nice to have some go to summer activities and we are also big fans of bubble activities for summer days -the bubble foam is one of our favorites!
Other than planning ahead for the paint ice cubes to freeze, there is not much needed to set up this activity. It is a great summer craft for toddlers and preschoolers (and moms who may need a little time to drink their coffee outside :))

Materials
- Ice Cube Tray
- Food Coloring
- Small twigs or popsicle sticks

How to Paint with Ice Cubes
Step one: Fill the ice cube tray with water. Add a few drops of different colored food coloring to each ice cube to create your paint colors. Gently mix.
Step two: Place sticks in each ice cube mold and put in the freezer for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Step three: Take out of the freezer and place the ice cube paint sticks in a small container.
Step four: Start to paint on watercolor paper!

This was such a fun summer activity for kids and we will definitely be making more ice cube paint sticks this summer!
