8+ Fun Bubble Activities for Kids
There is something so magical about bubbles and these fun bubble activities for kids are some of our favorite ways to play with bubbles! When I think of playing with bubbles I usually envision summer days, but we have some fun ways to explore bubbles in winter as well as a few activities you could do indoors!
Bubbles are mesmerizing and kids of all ages will enjoy these fun ideas for playing with bubbles.
The bubble activities below are engaging and a great way to explore the many different ways to make and play with bubbles!
Bouncing Bubbles
Create touchable bubbles that bounce on top of your hand with a simple mixture of sugar, water, and dish soap. The sugar strengthens the bubble walls, allowing them to bounce off soft surfaces like the fabric on cotton gloves. This activity is so fun and is also a great way to introduce kids to the concept of surface tension.
Rainbow Bubble Snakes
Transform a plastic bottle and an old sock into a rainbow bubble snake. By dipping the sock-covered end into a bubble solution and blowing through the bottle, kids can create a long, colorful chain of bubbles. Adding a few drops of food coloring creates a rainbow effect on the bubbles too! We love this fun summer activity and turn it into a fun game to see who can make the longest bubble snake!
Colorful Bubble Foam
For a hands-on sensory play experience, bubble foam is a fantastic option. Mix dish soap, water, and food coloring and whip it up using a hand mixer to create a fluffy foam that is so fun to play with! This vibrant foam can be used as part of your favorite summer sensory bin. You could also add some toys or use it in your mud kitchen for imaginative play. It is easy to make, safe for toddlers, and cleans up so easily! These rainbow bubbles are a great activity for hot summer days!
Giant Bubbles
Making these giant bubbles is always one of our favorite bubble activities for kids! We make giant bubble wands from wooden dowels and cotton rope and create humongous bubbles with our own homemade bubble solution! These giant bubbles are always so much fun for birthday parties and outdoor play!
Bubble Painting
These bubble paintings are a great way to play with bubbles indoors! It combines art and play and is a fun way to get creative with bubbles. By adding food coloring or liquid watercolors to a bubble solution, kids can blow bubbles onto paper, creating unique and colorful designs as the bubbles pop. This process art activity encourages creativity and experimentation.
Frozen Bubbles
Making frozen bubbles is a great winter activity to make the most of freezing cold days! When it’s below freezing, you can go outside and blow bubbles into the cold air and watch them crystallize before your eyes. It is so mesmerizing to watch the bubbles freeze and watch the beautiful ice crystals form.
DIY Bubble Wands
Create your own bubble wands using sticks and pipe cleaners! Shape the pipe cleaners into various forms using cookie cutters or your imagination, add beads for decoration, and attach them to the sticks. These homemade bubble wands are a fun outdoor activity and a great way to be creative in your bubble play! It’s so fun to see the different bubble wands kids create and using their own wands adds another element of joy to the bubble fun.
Create your Own Game with Bubbles!
There are so many ways to play with bubbles that I haven’t mentioned.
You could turn on music and try to pop bubbles to the beat, shout out body parts and see who can pop the bubble with their body the fastest, count to 100 by popping bubbles, etc. These types of games are a fun way to work on gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination!
