Valentine’s Day Word Scramble- Free Printable Game
This free printable Valentine’s Day word scramble is a fun activity to help celebrate Valentine’s Day whether it is during a classroom party, small group celebration or with your kids at home!
There is nothing sweeter than celebrating Valentine’s Day with kids. We have a few favorite traditions in our house including our countdown to Valentine’s Day, a fun little treat that waits for my kids on our table on the morning of February 14th and working together on creating unique and fun Valentine’s for my boy’s classmates and friends (one of our all time favorites is this Tic Tac Toe Valentine).
However, the excitement that comes into our house after school on Valentine’s Day cannot be beat. My boys LOVE their classroom Valentine’s parties and this Valentine’s Day word scramble game is a great way to add in some fun learning during a classroom celebration. It is also a prefect pick for a family game night or Valentine’s day party with friends.
Materials Needed
- Word Scramble Printable (linked towards the end of this post)
- Pencil
- Prizes (optional- but makes it a little more fun)
How To Use This Valentine’s Day Game
Print off the word scramble sheet for each child that will be playing
You can either separate kids into small groups to work together on unscrambling the words, or you can have each player work independently
Set a time limit and let the kids work on unscrambling the words, writing the correct spelling of the word on the line next to the scrambled word
Once the time is up have everyone stop writing
Go over the words and have each person or team count up their correct answers
The person or team with the most correct answers wins the game
Variations To This Game
You could forego the time limit and just let every team or individual work on unscrambling the words, once the page is completed they can have a small prize (some ideas would be giving them a heart sucker, Valentine’s Day sticker or fun eraser)
This printable is a perfect way to pass time for kids who have finished their classwork early
Make this a cooperative game, having the full class work together to try to beat a time limit
About This Valentine’s Day Word Scramble
This printable contains 12 scrambled words with blanks to put the original word on the line. There is also an answer sheet included with this printable. We did not include a word bank so this game would be more challenging for older kids, however if you are working with younger children it may be helpful to provide a word bank on a sheet of paper or whiteboard.
