We are always on the search for easy ways to celebrate holidays with our kids. We use these Earth Day coloring pages during the week leading up to the holiday and this Earth Day handprint craft is such a sweet keepsake. My preschooler loves making hats for holiday celebrations so we decided to make one for Earth Day!

If you are looking for other Earth Day activities for lesson plans for a classroom be sure to check out our Earth Day word scramble which is really fun for kids of all ages! You could even read our favorite Earth Day book, The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and make a pinecone bird feeder with peanut butter.

This craft was a really great way to talk about ways to help our planet. I also loved that it had my preschooler working on fine motor skills between coloring and cutting out the hat. This hat is such a fun Earth Day activity for kids!

How To Make This Earth Day Hat

Print off the hat template on printer paper, you can use cardstock if you would like it to be a bit more durable.

Have your child decorate the hat any way they would like. We used markers but you could use paint, crayons, or even add a little glitter or sequins (making it more of an adorable Earth Day crown 😊)!

Once the hat is made cut out the hat and the extender strip for the back of the hat, we also included an extra page of extender strips on the printable template for older kids.

Use a piece of tape or staple the hat together to fit to the child’s head.
