My kids love doing crafts and creating personalized gifts and cards for their teachers and family members so I wanted to create a template that made things a bit simpler. This template would make a cute holiday gift or if printed on white cardstock you could easily create cute Christmas cards as well! This is an awesome craft for kids of all ages but I love that younger kids can easily participate since it is such an easy painting craft.
It is fun to pair this with other activities like a holiday book or snack. Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer is a classic but we also love The Wild Christmas Reindeer by Jan Brett and highly recommend! We love making this reindeer food snack mix which would be a perfect addition to this craft too. You could also make a reindeer handprint ornament (which would make a great keepsake gift for your child to give to a loved one).
Materials
- Reindeer Printable Template (linked towards the end of this post)
- Brown Paint (I recommend washable paint or finger paint)
- Paint Brush
How To Create Your Reindeer Handprint Craft
Print off the printable template linked later in this post
Paint your child’s hand with brown paint, making sure to cover the entire surface of the palm and fingers
Put the hand paint side down onto the printable on the top of the reindeer head so the child’s handprint covers one of the reindeer’s ears
Repeat to create the second antler
Allow to dry and then enjoy!
Variations To Try With This Craft
- Add googly eyes for a unique personal touch
- If you want to forego paint you can outline your child’s hand and then allow them to color in their handprint
- You could use a glue stick to glue on small jingle bells on the antlers
- Use a red pom poms for the nose
