Learn how to make beautiful pressed flower bookmarks with just a few simple supplies and a little bit of time! These floral bookmarks are a great nature craft for both kids and adults!
We love nature crafts with pressed flowers around here and this diy flower bookmark is an easy and functional craft that looks beautiful!
My kids and I had a lot of fun picking out the dried flowers we wanted to use for our bookmarks and it was fun watching them making their little floral arrangements. All in all it took less than 30 minutes to make our bookmarks making this a great craft for birthday parties or summer get togethers with friends!
If you want to press your own flowers here is a great tutorial to teach you many different ways you can press flowers. This is a fun way to get outside and choose the type of flowers for your bookmarks and future crafts, but it does take some planning ahead! We usually press our flowers by putting them in between the pages of a heavy book lined with paper towels and then letting them dry over the course of a few days.
If you are not wanting to wait a few days to press your own fresh flowers, you can also buy dried flowers from local craft stores or online. For this project we used these dried flowers from Amazon and they worked wonderfully!
These bookmarks make a great homemade gift for Mother’s Day, teachers, friends or any book lovers in your life! Wrap them up with your favorite book and you have a lovely present with a homemade touch 🙂 So let’s get started!

Supplies
- Pressed Flowers – Either your own flowers or we love this pack from Amazon.
- Clear Contact Paper
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- Ribbon
- Gold Leaf Flakes – Optional
How to Make Pressed Flower Bookmarks
Cut out a piece of contact paper in the shape you would like your bookmark. The bookmark dimensions we used were not exact, but roughly 2 inches wide by 6 inches long.
Take off the backing and add your pressed flowers to the sticky side of the contact paper. If desired you can also add some gold foil along with your flowers for a little extra sparkle 🙂
Have fun making different arrangements on your bookmarks! My kids had a hard time keeping some of the flowers on the paper, so don’t worry if the flower is a little too big and falls off the side – it will just be trimmed up when your second piece of contact paper is added.
Cut out another piece of contact paper slightly bigger than the previous one. Remove the backing and stick it on top of the contact paper with the flowers.
Trim your excess contact paper so they are the same size.
If desired, you can use a hole punch to create a hole on the top of your bookmark to tie on a ribbon.
Your pretty bookmarks are ready to use!
Tips for Making Flower Bookmarks
You can use many types of flowers, just make sure they are completely dry and flat. They need to be flat to allow the contact paper to stick together well.
Smaller flowers work best for this project. You could also use pressed leaves or herbs in your arrangements!
The transparent bookmarks looked so pretty in the window, my kids had them hanging up as suncatchers as soon as we made them 🙂
These beautiful flower bookmarks are a great way to get outside with your kids, enjoy the beauty of nature and create something beautiful together! I hope you love this simple DIY project and the process of making your own bookmark with pressed flowers!
