We love making pipe cleaner ornaments for an easy Christmas activity, they are so simple to set up and make a fun winter craft for kids of all ages. There is nothing you need to prepare ahead of time for these pipe cleaner icicles and clean up is a breeze. While we do enjoy getting messy, sometimes it is nice to have a craft that is easy to clean up!
My 4 and 5 year old did this activity with no help from me and they loved being able to create their own Christmas ornaments independently. We know you will enjoy this simple winter craft too!
Supplies
- Pipe Cleaners – Any will work, I used tinsel pipe cleaners and especially love the iridescent tinsel for these icicle ornaments
- Pencil – Or pen or craft stick, just something to wrap your pipe cleaner around to make it’s shape
- Pony beads – Whatever colors you like! I used metallic pony beads because my girls like all things sparkly and shiny right now
How to Make Pipe Cleaner Icicle Ornaments
Put your first bead on your pipe cleaner and wrap the end of the pipe cleaner back around the bead and twist it to secure
Add the rest of your beads to your pipe cleaner.
Twist your beaded pipe cleaner around a pencil to make the spiral shape
Take your pipe cleaner icicles off of the pencil and create a loop on the top of the icicle to use as a hanger
Hang up as a fun Christmas decoration and make many more!
My kids had so much fun making their own Christmas ornaments and I am now finding them all over the house in very special places 🙂
This was a fun craft and they started getting very creative with their ornaments bending them into new shapes and making patterns with the beads. It was fun to see their creativity and just sit at the table and create with them. We hope you love this fun Christmas craft for kids!
