Easy Pumpkin Suncatcher Craft for Halloween
This fun and easy pumpkin suncatcher craft is a fun fall and Halloween craft for kids! Use our free printable pumpkin template and Jack O’Lantern faces to create your own cute pumpkin to hang on the window and create your own colorful Halloween decorations.
We visited the pumpkin patch this week and so it was perfect timing to have fun with this pumpkin craft! We really enjoy making suncatchers around here and last year these DIY leaf suncatchers were a favorite with us and you guys!

We made our pumpkin suncatchers with both flowers and nature finds and also with tissue paper. I love the look of both, and it’s fun to see what little minds decide to put in the center of their pumpkin frame.
These pumpkin suncatchers have quickly become one of our favorite crafts this season—and they are so colorful on our front door, bringing smiles every time we see them! If you are looking for more easy and not-so-spooky Halloween crafts for kids you might also enjoy making these toilet paper roll monsters and marshmallow monster pops!

Easy Pumpkin Suncatcher Craft for Kids
This pumpkin suncatcher craft is perfect for kids of all ages! My 3 year old had a lot of fun making her pumpkin many different colors and it was a great way for her to work on her fine motor skills as she cut out the tissue paper. Older kids might enjoy designing patterns with their paper and sticking to a more cohesive color scheme :).
There’s minimal prep involved, making this a great activity for home or a preschool classroom. Older kids can cut out their pumpkin shapes independently, while younger ones may need a little assistance to create the pumpkin outline and get started. Cutting out the pumpkin border is a great way to practice those scissor skills for your preschoolers!

Materials

Pumpkin Suncatcher Craft Instructions
Let’s get started! First, print out the free pumpkin template and faces by filling out the form at the bottom of this post. You will receive the template for a large pumpkin and 3 different pumpkin faces.

Cut Out the Pumpkin Shape: Use scissors to cut out your pumpkin template.
Trace and Cut: Trace the pumpkin outline onto your construction paper and cut out the inside of the shape, creating a frame for your suncatcher.
Prepare the Contact Paper: Place a piece of contact paper sticky side up on the back of your pumpkin frame.

Add Tissue Paper or Nature Finds: Arrange your flowers or tissue paper on the contact paper however you like! My kids enjoyed cutting the tissue paper into different shapes. You can also pre-cut squares to make it easier. We used a lot of red and orange tissue paper and added a bit of green for the pumpkin stem.
Seal Your Design: Once your tissue paper is arranged, place a second piece of contact paper on top to seal everything together. If desired, now you can cut out and glue the face template on top of your pumpkin.
Finalize the Shape: Finish cutting out the border of your pumpkin.

Display Your Creation: Hang your pumpkin suncatcher in a sunny window and enjoy the vibrant fall colors shining from your pumpkin!
