Sheet Pan Caramel Apples Recipe
There is nothing that screams fall more than a yummy caramel apple. However, when eating them with little kids they often are hard to eat and can feel frustrating for the child (and parents!). These sheet pan caramel apples are a fun twist on a classic fall favorite and are an easy way to avoid the messiness of eating a whole caramel apple without sacrificing any of the taste!

My son asked for caramel apples for his birthday party and I immediately knew I needed to find the easiest way to serve this classic fall treat to a bunch of 10 year olds. Homemade caramel apples are one of our favorite fall treats, but I really don’t like the fact that when we have to use almost an entire pack of baby wipes after to get cleaned up. These sheet pan caramel apples were such a great way to feed a crowd and made such a perfect fall party treat.
This recipe is very forgiving, you can make it for one person or a whole crowd. You can keep it traditional with just caramel or let everyone top their own apples with their favorite caramel apple toppings. It has quickly become a favorite fall treat in our house that we make over and over!
If you want to make an apple themed day with your kids you could make these fun tissue paper apples and do some pumpkin apple stamping with any left over apples you have! You could even include this adorable book about apple pie, it has been a book we have read over and over this fall.
Ingredients
- Granny smith apples
- Caramel sauce
- Favorite toppings:
- Heath pieces
- Mini chocolate chips
- Crushed graham crackers
- M&Ms
- White chocolate chips
- Butterscotch chips
Process
Lay out a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper onto your baking sheet (if we are feeding a crowd we will use a 9×13 pan but if it is just our family we like to use a half sheet pan)
Slice apples thinly with a sharp knife and lay the sliced apples out onto your baking sheet
Melt your caramel sauce and drizzle the hot caramel over the apples
While the caramel is still warm top the apples with your favorite toppings (we like to create a few different sections on our pan with different toppings in each part)
Allow the caramel to cool
Eat your delicious sheet pan caramel apples!
Storage Of Your Sheet Pan Caramel Apples
These are best when eaten right after they are made. If you would like to store leftovers you can cover the apples with plastic wrap or put them in an air tight container and store in your fridge for 24 hours. I recommend putting a little lemon juice on the apples before your store them to help prevent the apples from turning brown. The next day your apples may have a little more liquid around them from the caramel and toppings but they will still taste delicious!
Variations
If you would prefer to make your own caramel topping Sally’s Baking Recipes has an indulgent caramel sauce recipe. You could also melt caramel squares or caramel bits to create your caramel sauce (this is how we do it) or if you are in a pinch you can use the premade caramel sauce from the store.
Be creative with different toppings- I have listed our favorites above but you could be creative and try other delicious toppings like brown sugar, salt, peanuts or marshmallow creme.
Granny smith apples are the classic apples to use when making traditional caramel apples, however we have used many other varieties (because that is what we had on hand) and they also taste great, it just depends on your preference for how tart or sweet you want your apples to be.
Make apple pops instead for a different fun apple treat!

Storage
These are best when eaten right after they are made. If you would like to store leftovers you could cover with plastic wrap or put in an air tight container and put in your fridge. If you put a little lemon juice on the apples it will help slow the browning of the apples if you store them overnight.
